About the Author
My name is Laura Gaasemyr and I am a new resident of the beautiful city of Bergen, Norway. I am originally from Southern California, USA, and spent the last ten years (2004-2014) living in San Francisco, California, where I went to college, graduate school, worked, and met my husband, who is a native Norwegian.
Professionally, I work with records - paper, electronic, and data. I earned a master's degree in Archival Science & Records Administration (MARA), and have worked in both archives and records programs for 8 years. I am passionate about my profession and believe the work we do is important, both in terms of preserving historical records and their context for future generations, and in terms of helping the innovators of our time access the information they need.
In my personal time, I'm usually planning for or working on my next big project - whether that's an art or craft, a home improvement project, learning a new skill, or planning a trip - I always have something in the works. Currently, my "big project" is to find where I fit into this new country and culture.
I created this blog and maintain it because it's helpful for me to articulate the thoughts and feelings knocking around in my brain - therapy by self-analysis, in a way. So, yes, I'm writing for my own sake. But I genuinely hope that what I write can be of some value to someone else - either by entertaining, educating, or maybe just relating.
I'd love to hear from any new readers in the comments or by email: lauranorge at gmail dot com.
